It's Chinese. Literally means "turtle hair" and as such it means that one is very picky or fussy about something. The implication is that it is unreasonable and is causing unnecessary trouble.
I think the French equivalent would translate to "split hair in four" :)

I could talk about idioms all day! I love them. I have just enough knowledge of several Asian languages to be dangerous.

I enjoyed that discussion we had one day about the "national razor" lol. That was pretty cool.

I think in German it would be "Haare spalten" or "Haarspalterei" - splitting hairs. It's funny how the same saying is often found slightly modified in many cultures.
MJKlein wrote: Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:08 am Please tell me how you use it with a console. The Mackie ASIO connection is available but I don't want to measure the monitoring path. But yes, it's working flawlessly. I haven't heard a single anomaly since I got it up and running. Thanks.
Interesting. I would have expected that the Dante Card will just show up as a regular ASIO device for selection. Seems like that worked for Reaper, but not with RTL. Don't think I can help you there much further. :(

But I will trust your reported experience that it's really fast. :)

It does show up, but it says that it's busy, so I cannot access it. Now, it might work if I turn off the console, but then I'm not sure what I would be measuring. The Mackie Big Knob also shows up as a USB device but I don't need to measure that.

It's fast enough for track monitoring (not input monitoring) with no perceived latency at all.

JTS gave me a really great USB mic to test. I installed Dante Via and brought it into Reaper as a source. Wow, the latency is horrific! The mic has direct monitoring, so, now I have to rig up a send to the mic for monitoring so I can use the direct monitoring off the mic.

Horrific like a standard USB data conversion delay? :) :D

LOL. Even worse! Like a slapback, but with no fundamental. You hear your own voice in your head and then you hear the delay. Very annoying!
