Is there a way to make the headphone out mono?

Post by Gre404 »

I've got edrums split into left and right but it throws me off to hear the kick on one side and the rest on another. I'm used to hearing them all in both ears. Is there any way to do this in the settings? I tried one of those plugs that connects the left and right in the plug but that makes the sound smaller and flat. I have a little mixer that can do this but I'm traveling on train with a bunch of other gear and with the mixers big transformer it's a bulky thing just for this. Leaving in some hours so don't have time to order some smaller thing for now. Thanks for any tips

Sorry I don't visit more often! In case this is helpful: How busy is your mixer? You can plug 1/4"s into the combo jacks on 3 and 4 and pan them center. If your 3 and 4 are busy, then one thing I would try is plugging the L and R channels of your edrums into 5 and 7, or 6 and 8. Then they will both be on the left or on the right. If that isn't good enough, you could try plugging something like this between your headphones and the output.

This should split one of the channels (can't recall which off the top of my head) to both ears. It will entirely throw away the other channel. You could also probably plug this into one of the aux outs to split it to both ears.

What you describe as a thin quiet signal sounds like phase cancellation, like the adapter you are using is not quite right for the job.
