Hi all,
I had quite a long AES50 chain running (SD16*A-B*Wing Rack*A-B*X32 Compact*A-B*X32 Compact*A-A*S32). This worked and audio was no problem. I had HA remote control enabled on the Wing Rack (globally and individual sources for AES A) to control it via the first X32 (main mixer; clock source).
I thought that HA remote was working at least for the internal inputs in the Wing Rack. Then suddenly I realized that it wasn't working for the SD16 Channels on the Wing. And then it did not work for the internals anymore. Of course I tried it with another AES Ethercon cable, I tried to switch of and on all devices in different order - nothing helped.
I even used only one X32 Compact (and later a X32 Rack too) to control only the Wing without anything other attached and it didn't work anymore although everything was set up accordingly. And I initialized both devices to default settings - no change.
Could it be that the HA remote is somewhat damaned on the Wing? It is a really absolutely strange behaviour.
I did a lot HA remote controls between X32 Compacts and Racks, but something like this never happened...
Now I get only trim on the channels from the Wing and can't even remote control via the HeadAmp tab of the setup menu on the corresponding AES channels. I have no clue...
Does anybody here have an idea what to try or can check if HA remote works from a X32 to a Wing without problems?
Regards
Michael

Re: HA remote on Wing Rack not working anymore
My newest findings:
I tried the sync setup exactly as Drew did it in the video below (in mine the X32 was the master). But I don't get the name "WING" displayed in the connection overview in the upper right part of the X32 screen either way. On a reboot of the Wing I get a short display of "n/n" and then just a "-". I had a long name configured for my wing so I changed that to just "WING", but it didn't show up too.
I still get audio transmitted and according to the Wikipedia article the control signals are passed the exact same way over the cable like the audio data. So the connection should work. I don't know which firmwares Drew used but at least with X32 4.09 and Win 3.04 and the newest 3.05 it does not show up nor can the gains of the internal preamps be remotely controlled.
Please, can anyone with both types of mixers confirm, if this should work with current firmware too? It's unbelievable strange that something so simple doesn't work and I can't really imagine reasons besides very strange ones like FPGAs reprogrammed or internal flags overwritten by a memory leak...

Re: HA remote on Wing Rack not working anymore
@behringermike I did not look at the video BUT I'm wondering if you connected the Wing directly to the mixer wanting to control the HA's? Not sure if you can go around about it and still do it. Also NOT saying you did that, just asking. Maybe it has to be a direct connection? You enable HA Remote on say port A of the Wing and on the other end of that cable is the mixer that needs to control the Wing preamps on whatever port used there. My experience with an X32 is once it enables HA Remote, it can no longer control even its own preamps. It relinquishes all HA control on the port specified. I assume the Wing operates the same way.
