Hello,
I have 8 sennheiser wireless systems in a flightcase. Each time I have to connect a multipaire... And I'm limited with distance. So I have the idea to use a Behringer ADA8200 Ultragain as analog to digital converter in order to simplify setup.
Pro ? Cons ? Better solution ?
Thanks

The issue with the 8200 (or the older 8000) is running ADAT optical cables over distance. I've got away with optical TOSLINK cables up to 15 meters, but I found that's the absolute limit. I made my own TOSLINK to RS485 CAT5 adaptors, which worked up to 50 meters (all I needed) but I'm not aware of a commercial solution for that. You'd be better off with the new devices coming out for StageConnect (search under Klark Teknik) - there's a 16-input StageConnect box which would suit you perfectly, which would run through normal XLR mic (or preferably DMX cable) up to 100m or more. These Klark Teknik units I think also use Ultranet, so you could maybe set up an end-to-end 16channel analog to digitial "snake" - I haven't tried it this way, so I can't speak from direct experience.

This may be of interest as it relates to the 8200(x2) Adat, SC ultranet.and a Wing. Since MT so kindly sent me a replacement I can now tell you the whole setup works fine. The toslink distance perhaps sidestepped by the SC DL4816U…because only a short hop to the P16I was required. Maybe some iteration of some of the devices may inspire other adaptations. Fwiw. Essentially the goal was to use the 8200’s with adjustable preamps as a SC device. The inputs for SC itself are line level only as it stands. Now I have 16 adjustable HA’s with the ADA8200’s via SC and ultranet when the 4816U was replaced.

thanks for answers. Switching to a I/O Interface is a better idea. Will look how to insert to my workflow via dante or ultranet as all my inputs (wing, converters...) are free.
