Hello, I just upgraded to a Wing Rack for my home studio. I'm stuck on how to route and control the DAW master out volume going to my main monitors from the front panel of the Wing Rack. The quick start guide suggests it's possible to assign the headphone level on the front panel to this, or to use the "Custom Controls" section to do so but there's no further explanation of how this is done. Attached is a screen shot from the Quick Start manual (page 13).
Any ideas? I cannot find any info or videos on how this is done.

@Player Zero Welcome to our forum. I meant to respond to this the other day and spaced it, sorry. Did you resolve this? What firmware are you using on your Rack? Are you also using some program like Wing-Edit or Mixing Station? I know you said from the front panel but controlling it (setting it up) to get the desired outcome might be clearer and easier using one of the above programs. There was also a change made via firmware that added some settings to the routing of the headphone jack which may impact your outcome.

Re: Help! Wing Rack studio monitor volume control
@GaryH Hey thanks for responding! At the moment I'm using firmware "3.0.5-4" which I'm pretty sure is the latest.
Is it possible to use a CAT5 Ethernet cable from my Windows computer to the back of the Wing to control it with Wing Edit PC?
I figured out that I'm routing the "USB Audio IN" directly to the "Local Outs" my monitors are connected to, which bypasses any of the Wing's internal channels. All of my attempts to route some sort of pass through an AUX or BUS channel don't seem to work, even if I try using the User Signals.
As of right now I'm digitally gaining my volume in Ableton Live post master chain, so I'm at least able to work in the mean time.

@Player Zero It is possible, I use Wing-Edit on my pc, mixing station on an iPad and my phone. I use a switch and a wireless router in my system for Dante. Everything including the router goes through my switch, but still can access wirelessly to the router. I don’t see why going directly to your computer won’t work. You may need static ip’s and some networking tweaks and foolery but maybe not. I’d try DHCP first, working for me.

@GaryH Okay I'll fool around with that soon.
In the mean time if anyone has any notion of how to make it possible for me to control volume of my USB IN 1/2 channels before sending them out to the Local Outs (XLR Jacks 1-8) please chime in!

Re: Help! Wing Rack studio monitor volume control
Just wanting to bump this to see if anyone has figured this out?
I simply want to control the output level of 7/8 with the volume dial on the front of my wing rack. Seems like this should be possible but I'm not sure how.

Re: Help! Wing Rack studio monitor volume control
@Player Zero One way that comes to mind is make a cable that is stereo 1/4 in. to L and R out jacks of choice from the headphone jack to your mains. That volume control is normally for your earphones and not the source of the earphones which is variable. Coming out from the phones with the mains as the source, to your speakers would connect the 2 locally. There may be other ways but my Wing is not set up to really investigate.
Re: Help! Wing Rack studio monitor volume control
Assign the USB IN 1/2 to one of the channel strips (eg. Aux 1). Then go to Routing, Inputs, User Signals and assign that channel strip (eg Aux 1) to a stereo pair. Finally go to Routing, Output, Local Outputs and assign those User In stereo pairs (post fader) to outputs 7/8.Player Zero wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 5:31 pm In the mean time if anyone has any notion of how to make it possible for me to control volume of my USB IN 1/2 channels before sending them out to the Local Outs (XLR Jacks 1-8) please chime in!
