USB-Ethernet-USB

Post by pmaillot »

Has anyone ever tried a USB to ethernet, then ethernet to USB connection to 'transport' XLive data (the X32 or WING audio connection)?

Would that work with the correct adapters/dongles?

Any clue?
Just wondering....

Thanks,

I have a pair of these

As I recall they worked with the xlive usb card for around 50 feet that I tried, I did not do extensive testing. Needed the DC power added I think...also have not used them in a long while but still own them.

Hi Patrick,

you may remember that we discussed the use of KlarkTeknik DN9630 some weeks ago.

I also made some experiences with the task of USB via Ethernet.
You can find some information here:

Just to clarify something here...

These are not Ethernet devices. They are USB over CatX transceivers. They are not compatible with an Ethernet network and require a point-to-point connection. (i.e. no switch nor router in-between)

Dante AVIO adapters are USB to Ethernet but are not what you need for this application.

Hi,

what about this one?
It is a KVM-Extender via Ethernet (no p2p / switcher are possible), and you can use it even with Dante.
Obviously it is not yet available.

Yes, those are Ethernet devices so they will work across a switched network. I have a pair of the 1080p devices that support RS232 and USB but that's a rather expensive solution just for extending USB. The 1080p devices I have were ~$180US each so I suspect the 4K with Dante to be more than that.
