X Air 18 Connection

Sorry for such a noobie question, but can i connect my X Air18 directly to my laptop, or do i have to go through a router? Currently i can connect through WiFi, but not with a cable from the X Air to my laptop USB port.

Hi @RockGas, welcome to the forum. Yes you can connect your laptop directly to the X-Air. But (and a big but), you must ensure that both IP addresses (of laptop and X-Air) has the first 3 numbers identical (eg. 192.168.0) and the last different (eg. laptop IP is 192.168.0.100, X-Air is 192.168.0.110). The advantage of using a router is that the DHCP server in the router automatically assigns the correct IP address to each device connected to it.
