I want to use one of the stereo channels for two mono sources.
Theoretically it could be done by summing the main outputs to mono and using the balance to adjust the relative volumes of the two inputs in the stereo channel. Anyone tried this?
Using Stereo inputs as dual mono
Re: Using Stereo inputs as dual mono
Feels like a painful approach. How would you sum the main outs? You'd have to make a special lead with some resistors (or transformers) in it to avoid shorting the two output stages. Or you'd feed it into another mixer in which case you probably have some other spare input channels.
It would be hard enough with a real pan/balance knob; much harder on an app. Also the volume of the other "mono channel" will be affected in inverse to the one you're trying to adjust.
So whilst in theory you could do it, it doesn't sound very usable except in emergency cases.
Flow8 the wrong tool for the job in this instance?

Re: Using Stereo inputs as dual mono
you need the ability to SPLIT the stereo ch. into 2 mono ch's , not an option, this unit done right with 2 way usb and split inputs would be killer , just missing some basic stuff/. typical.
