Hello, I own DP48 just for several days, I've set the Mixes A and B up, it works great.
However, the documentation is, nicely said, insufficient, so I figured out myself how to route 8 channels (Mix A, B, Ambient Mic L+R, AUX in L+R) from DP48 back to console, but what's tickling my mind is the function of Talkback in the SETUP menu. Is it Talkback of the console streamed to DP48? Or Ambient mic can upstream the Talkback to console or other DP48? How it it triggered?
In the Block diagram it says: TALKBACK function replaces CH48 with MIC L signal in both Port A and B upstreams. This is the only info I get about Talkback. When I enabled this function in the Setup, suddenly Group 12 was renamed Talkback... so I immediately Broadcasted from console to get my Group 12 back without exploring, what this Group12 Talkback means... No signal on AES50 channel 48 on the console however.
I don't know.
Does anybody have a clear explanation for this functionality?
Thank you.
Richard.
DP48 - Talkback function.
Re: DP48 - Talkback function.
Hi Richard, welcome to our forum. Talkback from the console to the DP48 can be set up just like any other signal being sent to the DP48 (via AES50). Then you would assign that AES50 channel to a group. The DP48 talkback (using the built-in ambient mic) functionality (to send back to console or to other DP48 is only available when using the Hub4 and connecting the DP48 to that Hub4.richardkad wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:18 pm Is it Talkback of the console streamed to DP48? Re: DP48 - Talkback function.
Thank you, Paul, I finally start to understand the ecosystem with Hub4 and it's definitely an overkill for me and our 4-piece band. But it's always good to know all the possibilities for the future. BTW Drew Brashler (yeah - I skipped his complex video of Wing+HUB+DP48 because my setup of x32+DP48 is trivial in comparison) must have taken some deep training otherwise there is no way to find all the things out by a man himself (at least what I think). Thanks.
