I want to use my passive Tannoy Reveal studio monitors with my UMC202HD interface, so I guess I need to buy a stereo amplifier of some kind. Are there any special requirements I should observe? Do I need to use balanced jacks going into the L&R outputs on the back of the UMC202HD?
Many thanks...
Balanced jacks necessary? UMC202HD
Re: Balanced jacks necessary? UMC202HD
Hello and Welcome.
If you use unbalanced (mono) jacks into the outputs, you'll have no issues at all. Balanced is great for really long single runs, especially for passive ones (dynamic mics for example) but going a short distance to an amplifier to drive your speakers it's really not necessary. Many amplifiers you re likely to use won't even have balanced inputs, but RCA connectors which are unbalanced.
Best, Karn.
