I updated my WING-DANTE firmware from 4.2.4.8 to 4.2.7.7 and it seems to have stopped working. It is not asking for a DHCP address and is not on the 169.254.x.x network. Dante Controller doesn't see it either. Any ideas? I've only had the thing for a couple of weeks and it seems to have bricked after a firmware update.

@andreyco Do you know which type Dante card? Brooklyn 2 or 3? The new firmware 4.2.7.7 is only for Brooklyn 3 cards. If you flashed it to a Brooklyn 2 card you will probably have to do a fail safe flash. You can also try connecting directly form a laptop (with DC installed) to the Wing-Dante (or AOIP) card via a lan cable and bypass any switch if you use one. That may allow DC to "see" your card. You need to download all fail safe images first. Also you need to set the Wing ip and the computer to the same ip range. If flashed with the Wing-Dante version (and it is internal) I suppose it's possible issues could also occur. Or if you flashed the Wing-Dante with the AoIP firmware version. That said it would likely not cause it to be bricked. It may not work correctly is all. There is no 4.2.7.7 for Brooklyn 2 cards so I can't try it myself. Sorry for your troubles. IMO the card will be salvageable, just a pain to do so. Also please update as to the outcome if you could, it may help someone else down the road.

Same thing happened when we upgraded to firmware 4.2.7.7. Brooklyn 3 card in external slot. No longer will get an IP address and can not find it anywhere on network using Dante Controller or Dante Updater. Does anyone know of a workaround to rollback to previous firmware?

@kcroswell There is a whole process for fixing such situations with fail safe firmware, search the Audinate site for specifics. Also DC has a help manual under the Fail Safe column. Besides that, going directly from the computer to the wing Dante port with nothing else connected may also work to allow Dante Controller to see the card. Ip's of each device need to be in the same ip range-see below. You need to download (or update) the fail safe images first. Did you use the Wing-Dante file or the AoIP version? just curious. Also can you update this thread with the outcome and any solution? I will then update the "how to" if need be.This will help others down the road.

Also might be worth trying to run the Wing registration utility, probably won’t help it, but it just might.

How to register a Dante Card:

1. Start the console with the Utility button pressed
2. Go to setup/general and touch the options field next to console,
3. Enter Mod-Dante and press apply to register an internal module
4. Enter Mod-None deregister the internal module.
5. Restart the console

@GaryH thanks for responding. This is a Brooklyn 3 card used in the WING-DANTE expansion. I would have preferred to have it installed internally, but it didn't look like that was a fully supported use from Behringer. With that said, the card was updated using Dante Updater and says that it was successful. I'm Dante Level 3 certified, but "fail safe" behavior was not part of the training. I'm not sure what to do next to troubleshoot. I have a ticket out with Behringer, but it has been a week with no response.

@andreyco There is a Fail Safe manual (sort of) as part of Dante Controller:

https://dev.audinate.com/GA/dante-updat ... evices.htm

Not surprised at the ticket business, very sad way to (not) help people in need. I could go on and on...Another thought is the FB private user group for Dante, a lot of Audinate employees are there...

Also you are probably aware but there are 2 versions of the 4.2.7.7 file you used, hope you flashed it with the right one...Keep us posted as to your progress. (I am also Level 3 certfied btw but I honestly forget things and need to review often :-))

FB is a horrible place for helping support (trolls). It would be fantastic if we could invite those specialists to this site, where we can do anything we want, including special forums, etc..

@GaryH Thanks for the link. I'll take a look around. As far as whether the correct update file was used, I am hoping so because it was under the recommended updates in Dante Updater. When I was attempting to install the card to the internal slot I had flashed the internal firmware while it was using the expansion slot and the device was still visible in Dante Controller. I'll give it a go with a direct connection to the WING-DANTE and see what shows up in Controller.

@MJKlein I agree about FB in general. The private user groups are however pretty decent and free of the crap. You do get an idiot every now and again but idiots are everywhere :-) They have administrators and are monitored etc, you have to join and be accepted like any other forum. X amount of posts before showing etc. The Dante private users forum has been around a long time and has thousands of members, some of whom would come here, some maybe are already. It would be great to get some of the Audinate guys to defect :-)

@andreyco You will likely need to change the network ip on the Wing to a static one (at least temorarily) and for the computer ip as well, so both are in in the same ip range. Then using a direct connection with DC it may just reveal itself, if not the fail safe status should then be active to allow a roll back. Download the fail safe images first so all are current. Seems to me possible that the update was automatic for the internal version if in fact that firmware version was loaded on to the expansion card. That also could explain why it isn't working. It will get sorted imo eventually.
