How are the 3.5mmto 2 XLR cables wired? What pins on the XTRs do the wires go to. And why don't you just pug it into the AUX inputs. If you want it on the first 3 faders for some reason you can select the aux inputs to show up there.

Regarding wire that's a good question. I'd have to test for continuity. This same wire has been used successfully in the past. Faders working then.

I could use other outputs such a Aux but that doesn't answer why faders are not working. I fear I'd just be dealing with the same issues elsewhere.

I've been in communication with Sweetwater who have brought Behringer technical onboard. Sweetwater has done remote troubleshooting via control of my PC attached to the X32. On the phone he had no idea what is the issue. Neither did the "x32 Specialist". He captured whatever scenes he needed and forwarded it to Behringer.

Their first few suggestions have done nothing. This is obviously an unusual and involved problem.

I really appreciate all of the input here. I couldn't get back sooner as I was busy with preparing and doing the show. I'll work on posting that scene and Sweetwater's and Behringer suggestions so far.

I did find a bad pin connection which solved one issue but has nothing to do with the faders.

I'm leaving the sound equipment as is for now for continued troubleshooting.

First solution from Sweetwater and Behringer the "I" in the message is the Sweetwater tech talking.

Sweetwater:
"I have the Faders for Channels One and Two set to unity – so while you are testing everything, please make sure to start with the Ipad volume low – and slowly turn it up from there."

Below is the message I received from Behringer that details the possible resolution.

“1. Inputs 1 and 2 are not linked.

2. Channel 2 is configured to receive from Input 1...as is Ch. 1.

3. Auto mix is enabled on Ch. 2 which is leading to the issues you're describing.



Link Ch 1 & 2.

Set Ch 2 to receive from input 2, so they're receiving stereo.

If they're planning on sending to Mix Bus 1, they'll want to adjust the Send."

This had no effect.

Second suggestion:

"Go to the XLR tab. They are routing inputs 1-8 direct to the outputs. Have them move from Local 1-8 to Out 1-8 and it will work as normal."

My response:

"No can do. Placing them on Outputs 1 - 8 mutes the signal significantly. Turning up the gain drives meters into clipping with the music a bare whisper.

I've returned the Outputs to Local so I can hear the sound."


Latest suggestion. I'm not sure if this is coming from Behringer or Sweetwater:

"I had another tech take a look. They updated the Out from Local 1-4 to Out. This should allow the faders to work!"

I have not tried this. I was too tired post show. I'll give it whirl today.

@Afinepoint, evidently from your recent posts, your setup is relatively complex (using Autogain, etc.). Please attach your scene file (export from the console using the Utility button and USB thumbdrive, or export from X32-Edit) to your next post (using the Full Editor below) so that we can have a look at your setup and better advise. Without it we are trying to help blind. And to be honest, some of those suggestions from Behringer tech don't make sense.

Working on saving and export of scenes. No familiarity with that operation. Computers not my forte. Last Sweetwater/Behringer suggestion is confusing. Could not open his file.
