New Windows Update and Surface Pro 7
New Windows Update and Surface Pro 7
My Surface Pro 7 updated it's Windows version today. Immediately after, it started freezing for a few seconds every minute or less. When I first bought the SP7 it did the same thing and I turned off Panel Self Refresh in the Power settings area of the Intel Graphics Command Center. That fixed the issue. Please note that the new Windows update turned this back on and you'll need to manually turn it off again. If your SP doesn't have the Intel Graphics Command Center, you'll have to install it.

Re: New Windows Update and Surface Pro 7
Hello sir.
Please advise what version of Windows caused this undesirable behavior?
I too use a SP7 for M32-Edit, M-Air-Edit and Reaper. I've never experienced the freezing phenomenon you describe. So I can be prepared if the conditions arise, can you provide a little more detail? Did the SP7 simply freeze regardless of what you were doing, or were the freezes dependent on some combination of running applications?
Thx. D

You'll know it when you see it. The mouse and touchscreen freeze up for a few seconds. It's very frustrating, especially when typing something.DwayneA wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 3:00 am Hello sir.

It seems that some of the SP7s in the wild exhibit this behavior and most do not. I got mine about a year ago and on the first day had these issues. Much of what I read was about people who simply exchanged it for another one and the issue wasn't with the replacement.
If yours doesn't have the issue, it most likely won't in the future. The version of Windows doesn't matter. What matters is that Panel Self Refresh was turned back on. That needs to go off if it is freezing.
