Hello,
My flow8 resets the EQ on all the channels 4-band EQs (not the main EQ) every day or every few days - theres no real pattern.
I'm using the Parametric EQ option, I have reset the device, reinstalled newest firmware, reinstalled driver for my mac - it keeps happening.
The weirdest thing is, that when the EQ is malfunctioning, the four bands do NOT have standard values, they are at -15 db for the first, second and fourth band, while the third band is a 0db... So I press reset EQ and all 4 bands goes to 0db, as expected. I have to do this on all input channels. Then I wait some hours, and its back at weird setting.
What do you think - am I an idiot ?
Regards
Kristoffer

Re: Flow8 channel EQ reset every few days
Hello and Welcome.
Wow, that sounds odd. I've not seen that myself.
Are you using the Bluetooth app, and if so, what platform are you using it on and which version is it? If you turn the Flow 8 on and have nothing connected by Bluetooth to it, does it still happen?
Best,
Karn.

Re: Flow8 channel EQ reset every few days
Thanks
I used the ipad app on my M1 mac - but since I stopped using that, it hasn't happened...
I'm only using the iphone app now, and it hasn't happened since.
which is fine... but strange... the app running on the M1 mac also used an impressive amount of CPU, but noone had that issue either, so maybe its connected - it also states on the app store, that even if the app works on Mac, its not supported.
Best regards
Kristoffer

Re: Flow8 channel EQ reset every few days
I've never had mine reset. From what the other user had happen, I think it's control app related, not the Flow 8 doing it 'alone' so to speak.
The app is very power hungry. On an iPad it takes WAY more power than X-Air Edit does when controlling a way more complex machine with larger numbers of channels. On my phone, it takes more than 3 times the battery power the app for my Yamaha Stagepas 200 does. I can't say I think it has been well developed.
If you have another possible/practical device to try controlling it with, that's what I'd try.
Best, Karn.

I spoke too soon - it still happens, even when only using the iphone app - but it seems to happen not as often - but think about all the people who thinks their music sounds like shit ! or that the interface is very bad (which might be true)
I'm attatching a picture showing the channel EQ, same on all channels, main EQ is not affected.

I also have never seen this! I do think the programming of the EQ is a bit slapped together and not very intuitive, but once I set it, it stays good.
General troubleshooting advice around this kind of thing:
Have you saved a snapshot in the app when it is doing fine, and when it misbehaves can you restore that snapshot? Does that solve it in a decent enough way?
If not, how about using a Mixer Snapshot saved to the mixer itself?
Does it forget while you're using the mixer or between sessions?
Is there anything you can think of that might be happening when it breaks? Examples include installing/uninstalling things from the phone, connecting or disconnecting from the cloud, using another app, charging off of a computer that tries to sync? Plugging and unplugging the mixer? Using bad power that might be insufficient or flaky?
Once it breaks, do you fix it just by dragging the mixer control sliders back into place, or do you choose the Reset button first? Try to Reset the mixer, if you aren't, because I think it's possible that an invalid value in the mixer may remain behind the scenes, even if the sliders look okay.
If that doesn't help, try saving your Snapshot and then starting a New Session from scratch, power the mixer off and on, and try to get it as clean as possible. Once you set up a basic session, does the problem recur? It could be something in that session has corrupted, and the best way to get around that is to rebuild it.
Lastly, try using a different device to control the mixer and don't use the phone or the M1 for a while, and see if it's something about the phone itself.
I have a theory that the M1 is a nonstandard untested method, and it set something unusual and corrupted the session. Whether you can get around it by re-saving, resetting, and reloading the session, or whether you need to start a new session, that could be enough to fix it.
Oh I'm unfamiliar with the M1, is it possible that the M1 is pairing with the mixer over bluetooth still, even when you aren't aware?
