The Future Of This Forum

Post by MJKlein »

Sometimes, things just need to be done. This certainly was the case here. This forum needed to be built. Not necessarily by me, but by someone. I just happened to be in a position to do so, therefore, I did it. I only know that it was necessary. But, I also know that some of you are concerned about investing in a forum that may be here today, and gone tomorrow. A reasonable concern.

We have to face facts that there is the possibility that Behringer may issue a takedown demand because of the use of "behringer" in the domain name. Companies have to protect their corporate ID usage because it can set a dangerous precedent if they don't. Personally, I just loved the sound of "Behringer World" which is why I chose this domain. I hope that Behringer reads this post and understands that I would much rather work with the company than be viewed as an adversary.

Truthfully, since my purchase of the X32, my entire musical world has revolved around Behringer. It was out of respect, not the spirit of competition that motivated me to build this site. But, given the fact that it could be forced to be taken down, I want to reassure all users that I have already implemented a solution with my hosting provider to keep this forum going no matter what. If the worst possible case happens, arrangements have already been made to continue the forum as a sub-directory under my studio domain: phoenixmediaforge.com. If this situation arises, we can be back online in a very short time - a matter of a few hours at most. The forum has the capability of sending an email message to every user and by that means, the new URL would be immediately published. The domain name is irrelevant. The forum will be identical regardless of the domain under which is it served.

So, please, interact with the forum freely, fully confident that I have the means and the resolve to keep this forum going and have made arrangements to handle foreseeable contingencies.

It is an honor to have the privilege of hosting this forum.

Fantastic it exists! Hats off to you. I can see it blossoming in the very near future. I will post about it in Facebook if you don’t mind, also not if you prefer. There are many old x32 members still around there and would come. (If you build it they will come) I belong to about 8 different private user groups there. They are all mostly civil. Private keeps most morons out but not all...Those who are not can asked to depart here if they don’t behave....if they ever show. I can already breathe better in this place. Thanks MJ!!

Gary, first of all, thank you for your participation. By all means publish the site however you feel appropriate. And thank you for being patient while we figure out what theme to use. It's pretty much default at the moment and I'm certainly open to suggestions! Thank you.

MJ, I have no expectations, knowing you, Paul, Patrick and others are here is all I need to know. It's already better than MT on day 2. I'm a little rusty in these style forums getting around but will get it all back soon enough, it is coming back quickly! I'll post the site in my Facebook forums groups. There are several VERY knowledgeable folks there as well and they will be good resources should they ever decide to join us. Just spreading the word! Thanks again.

Thank you for doing this, I too own many Behringer products, X32 Rack, Wing, Midas M32C. this forum is much needed...If Behringer have any sense at all, they will endorse this Forum and shut down their embarrassing attempt. Well done and thank you.

So after seeing Gary's post on Facebook, I jumped right over. To have you guys that I have been following for quite awhile do this says a ton for you commitment and concerns that infor gets out to the community.
Thanks, have owned a X32 and now own a wing as well. Came from the pro production world whatever "pro" means! using Digico Yamaha, Midas, Soundcraft etc....... The X/M32 and Wing are amazing, as you all know, for their price point. Looking forward to learning and hopefully contributing as time goes on. I have thoughts to theater interface as it relates to scenes etc as shared with Paul in the past and hopefully we can revisit as Behringer gets closer to updating and configuring the scenes etc.
Again thanks for starting and putting up with all of us!

Thanks a lot for your efforts. Your commitment to the user-community is appreciated. In case the domain-name will be disputed it may be an idea to find something more generic. Keep in mind that the problems with the music-tribe website affects all their brands so this could potentially be huge if it is developed into a resource for all those brands.

If there is a dispute, I will simply move the forum to my studio domain. There will be a redirect.

I know I said "simply" but it will not be fun.

I just would like to thank everyone for their contributions since the forum began. Its very gratifying to see that the forum has become a useful source of information that is helping people accomplish their goals. I couldn't ask for anything better than that.

In the near future I am going to upgrade the user experience. I already have a very nice theme for the site and it will be full widescreen for those who have a wide HD monitor. In the meantime, my studio is super busy.
