Simple likes
Simple likes
Is there a way to add a simple "like" button or similar process to a thread? Sometimes that's all that is needed. If it's already here, how do I add it?
Re: Simple likes
@GaryH phpbb has no likes baked in. Early on, I looked for that function because I use it a lot on the Tascam Forums (which runs Xenforo). There are some extensions and (I have no idea why, but) none of them are supported any longer or seem to do what what we want, which is a simple "thumbs up".
There is this extension and I did try it: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2124456
But I think it sucks, and since I started the board, it's upgraded to a newer version so I have no idea what would happen with an unsupported extension. I'm still dealing with a "likes" extension that I installed which crashed the board with a fatal SQL database error. I had to FTP to the server and manually delete the files in order to get the board to run again. Now the SQL database has junk left over but it's not fatal (and as long at it doesn't cause problems, I'm not going to risk editing the SQL database just to get rid of those lines).
Believe it or not, I'm running 17 extensions, all of which seem quite useful. Some of them aren't even noticeable, but things like collapsible forum categories, and also live updates (where new posts are immediately updated in lists) are extensions and not native to the system.

@MJKlein Thanks MJ, no problem, just thought I would ask. Don't want any crashes!
Re: Simple likes
Now if you could find an extension with group hugs and elbow bumps, we be all set

So explained so well, I am new here and learning a lot by taking part in different discussions.MJKlein wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:46 am @GaryH phpbb has no likes baked in.
