FLOW 8 USB IN for additional inputs

Post by NZdave »

Hi there. I have reached the limit of using all inputs and was wondering if anyone knows of a device where I could plug that INTO THE USB A [on the rear] as an additional input to get just a couple more instruments? Any thoughts or ideas welcome. Regards NZdave

Hi Dave, the Flow 8's USB port will only connect to a USB Host device - PC, tablet, etc. You could probably rig a Raspberry Pi to do this. There are numerous examples, on the web, of using a Pi with other USB audio devices.

Have you considered using channels 5, 6, 7, and 8 as independent mono inputs? There are ways to mix these independently via software app controls.

How do you do this on the behringer Flow8 phone app, I can't see how you can unlink inputs 5/6 or 7/8. Or are you talking about a different software app.
Thanks

I am also interested in mixing stereo channels as independent mono ones. How can this be accomplished?

You can connect to an IPad and use AUM app (works like a digital mixer). You choose channels 5 6 7 8 on separate tracks and send output back to flow8. But doing like this yoi will have a litle more latency. Need to test.

Is that a wired connection from Ipad to the USB in on the Flow8 Mixer?
And do you still use the Flow8 App through Bluetooth as an overall control?
OR are you just using the ALUM app only?
Thanks

Only usb cable is needed. All is digital from flow8 to ipad. No analog.

You can do whatever you want. On AUM you choose the inputs from the mixer you want to use. This will run in paralell from the flow8 faders.

For example, you can use AUM for only running some effects. You run a chorus auv3 plugin with 100% of effect mix, and with the volume control in aum you choose how much you want from that effect to return to the flow8. In flow8 everything from AUM will be inputed into channels 9/10(usb in). So you also have that control.

Suppose you want use AUM as a external effect for channel 7/8... So you can control the dry volume by the mixer channel fader, and the wet volume by the AUM fader and/or usb in fader in Flow8. It is so flexible!

If you just want to split channels 7/8, so in aum you can add 2 tracks, one for 7 and other for 8. You can do whater you want with that 2 tracks in aum (for example, running an amp simulator like amplitube), and configure output of that tracks to flow8 outputs. You can keep fader of channel 7/8 shuted down, so you will only have audio from usb(wet) and not the dry sound from thr channel itself.

Heya,

Do you mean you use a usb B to lightning cable to link iPad to AUM?
