Cymatic uTrack24 As A Dante to Analog Interface?

Post by MJKlein »

This unit can be bought with a Dante card: https://www.thomannmusic.com/cymatic_audio_utrack24.htm

24 channels of analog-to-Dante plus recording for under 400 Euros is pretty amazing. The question is, can the analog I/Os be used as a regular Dante interface even when not recording? If this is possible (and I think the answer is "yes"), this would be the cheapest Dante interface solution there is.

@MJKlein I'd be careful in getting anything made by Cymatic. They are the ones that came out with an X32 recording card (before the X-Live was even thought of) and would blame Behringer when a new firmware would cause problems with their card, rather than fixing their drivers.

That being said, I would risk it if the thing can indeed act as a Dante interface. But it won't do any good if the pass though only works under certain conditions. Some time back I asked this question on the Cymatic forum and never got an answer.

Looking at the AudioLan module user manual, it says this:
When the AudioLAN Module is recognized, a new menu option “Inputs” is present in the
uTrack24 settings. The “Inputs” menu allows you to select either the Analog inputs or the Audiolan network inputs as
a source to be recorded on the uTrack24. The selection of inputs is allowed in blocks of 8 channels.
When the uTrack24 is used as an interface device, another option “AudioLan Card” is available on the settings
menu. The AudioLan card can be used as Input or as Output in Interface mode.
So I still don't exactly understand what can be done with it regarding the network audio interface. But it doesn't sound like it can be used as a recording interface like I want because of the 8 channel blocks.

Sounds like they "recycled" their AD interface/driver to match the Dante standard. Unfortunately keeping the limitations once imposed with their Behringer recording device.

I figured it was too good to be true. I think I'm looking at around $3k to do what I want to do. :o
