If I could get any two card inputs on auxiliary inputs and have the corresponding channels available for local inputs, I can work with that.

Re: X32 Routing and Aux Channels
I'm going to see if I can follow what you're saying Gary when I'm at the desk next time. Thank you.GaryH wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 2:58 pm What about using aux remap plus a user in bank? Aux remap set to card 1 and 2. User in bank is: Local 1, local 2, then card 3-6. That should allow local ch 1 and 2 to be used while mixer ch 3-32 plays card 3-32, aux 1 and aux 2 play card 1 and 2. Would that do it? I have used aux remap of card 1 and 2 for many years. All DAW tracks are sent to stereo 1 and 2, during overdubs there is zero latency, aux 1 and 2 is the monitor mix and local ch's can be used as rec sources while listening to all other tracks. Would need a dedicated scene or snippet for that if the usual is per ch track mixing...but that's easy enough. Switch back to mix as usual
Btw, the whole reason I'm doing this is because I don't use a Master track in Reaper. All the tracks come back on the individual card channels and this is why I want to put a couple of those card inputs on the aux channels.

Re: X32 Routing and Aux Channels
@MJKlein Make sure you put that 'user in' bank 1 you create for the first block of 8 inputs instead of the card 1-8 bank, then use your usual card banks just like before. The user bank 1 should be: local 1, local 2, card 3, card 4, card 5, card 6, card 7 and card 8. Aux remap is set to Card 1 and 2. The biggest issue with this might be that your track order gets screwed up because the first 2 tracks of the daw now will show up on aux ch 1 and 2...but if you can live with that, should work.
EDIT: The following, written earlier, is really no help as local 1-6 for aux remap is already quite possible without a user bank involved-it still would work if it was created, but just not needed and one extra step, sorry
Another interesting option might be keeping your card input routing as it is now are and making 'user in' bank 1 be assigned to local inputs 1-6, Then use user 1/2, user 1-4 or user 1-6 for your Aux remap selection. It theory it would put those local ch's on the aux's and keep the card tracks as before. Maybe worth a try. hope it helps...

Re: X32 Routing and Aux Channels
I'm using that now to change Channel 3 from card to input. Thanks, I understand (at least I think I do!).

Re: X32 Routing and Aux Channels
@MJKlein Just was looking at aux remap again and realized that using the "user in" bank JUST for local ch's (user bank idea #2) is really no help at all as you can already assign local ch's to aux remap...sorry...but maybe doing just that would help you?...that is set local ch 1-6 for Aux remap. Maybe while testing these options, give that a look too.
Re: X32 Routing and Aux Channels
Thanks @GaryH. I have a session to set up today so I'll take another hard look at it. I appreciate the mental effort you've expended on this for me.GaryH wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 2:54 pm @MJKlein Just was looking at aux remap again and realized that using the "user in" bank JUST for local ch's (user bank idea #2) is really no help at all as you can already assign local ch's to aux remap...sorry...but maybe doing just that would help you?...that is set local ch 1-6 for Aux remap.
