@MJKlein

I am not 100% sure. I would try that IF you are connected like this:

X-Dante primary lan cable goes directly to your switch
X-Dante secondary (short) lan cable goes to x32 console network port.
Your computer and pcie card go directly to your switch.
Your pcie card is the preferred master clock in DC.

Worst case scenario is if no improvement (or it doesn’t work at all) you can put it back as you have it now. As I noted the X-Dante card in my system was just one piece of many and set for ext like MG says to do gave me lots of errors, not set as Ext was fine. Why? I honestly don’t know.

I still have not set it up again to double check, I have my Core in a rack somewhere and X-Dante was removed to utilize an X-Live card. So I need to do some housekeeping and furniture moving to get back where I once belonged (get back Loretta)
I hope I am not misremembering any important details.

Thanks @GaryH. Everything is as you say with the exception that the X-Dante is the clock Leader. Today I set the console to internal clock and all seems well. About 350 us or so for everything. Planet X22 is a bit slower but not by much. No strange noises and no network muting.

After I press Submit I'm going to try making the PCI-e card the Preferred Leader and see what happens. Thanks man.

@GaryH console set to internal, PCI-e card set to clock Leader. All seems well. I reduced the X-Dante and PCI-e card to .5ms and packets are well within that range. Planet X22 is set to 1ms.

@MJKlein Sounds like it's working well! Glad! I will get a PCI-e card one fine day. So cool.

They are very cool man. I got mine from Thomann (as you might remember). I got 2 more shipments from Thomann coming in the next couple of weeks. I think we should set up a forum section for gear photos.

My PlanetX22 came with a free copy of DVS, but I had already bought it when I first set up my network. At some point I might put some computers around the house and link them for fun just to see what can be done.

Have you tried Via? It's a good concept but the latency is horrendous. It would only be good as a non-critical feed to/from somewhere that doesn't have to sync up with anything. I tried recording to the DAW through Via and it was a disaster because of the high latency.

@MJKlein I do have a via license but have hardly used it. I can't comment on the latency, I don't recall what I even tried it with. I will look into it though.

i would go for masterclock on a device which is mostly on when some other devices are maybe off. So, the Wing i think is a good idea for masterclock in your setup maybe. Then, set the Dante devices to allow Sync from external. I would not raise the dante latency on the X-Dante if the Planet22 is the problemativ device. If you do so, other devices connected to the Wing and not to the Planet22 will also be affected. raising the latency on the Planet22 should also solve the problem with the problem.

I had problems with Dante going through an Router(ISP) Ethernet Ports. If you do so. try to avoid this and use a regular gbit Ethernet Switch. could be a normal Layer 2 switch (not configurable) or Layer 3 switch (configurable). In a Layer 3 Switch you can optimize your timings and QoS. There is a documation about that at Audinate.com. Thats only necessary if you are using this network parallel with other things other than Dante.

I think the Planet22 should work with at least 1ms. Maybe try a direct connection to one device and see if it works with 1ms.

@Heavy90 The only device that's truly on all the time is the PCI card, but the only time I use Dante is when the console is turned on. Currently, I have the console on internal clock, and the Dante Network using the X-Dante in card in the console for clock leader. All seems well with that. The PCI card and X-Dante card are both set to 500 ms. The lowest latency setting available on the Planet 22x is 1 ms and that seems to be working very well.
