Just a short report of my findings re: Dante...
I had to put an X-Dante card into one of my X32-Core
to receive / transmit back from an iLive IDR stagebox...
round tripp measured with Smaart
Mic XLR in ( IDR 48 ) , via X-Dante of the X32-Core as mixer, XLR out ( IDR 48 ) :
4.5 mSec
ok for FOH but not so good for IEM...
Then I compared a recording situation with my X32Core and Macmini3,1
comparing the X-Dante and DVS vs the X-UF ( firewire )
playing back 32 channels and recording 32 channels
simultaneously in Digital Performer 7 :
Firewire about 45% CPU , Dante about 55% and more CPU,
and Dante and X32 remote on the same Network...
With all the hassle, to record with Dante I'd use a separate Mac,
while I have years of experience recording with only 1 Macmini 2,1
and control the X32Core with a faderbox and play back iTunes
X-Dante 'just' fills a need for compatibility for the X32 series for me.

@Klaus Thx for this info! I also wanted to thank you for inspiring me (a long while back) to take a long look at the iDR stageboxes, That led me down the road to several areas of interest and possibility. I wonder if you could detail your cable and switch setup for each device? Primary port/secondary. Also clocking with regard to master slave etc? Preferred leader(s)? DVS seems to always be the slow poke in a Dante system, although the latency numbers for it are somewhat deceptive due to the way Dante works. One expensive way around it I guess is get a dante pcie card, I keep thinking about it but yet to pull the trigger. In my situation mostly because I have no need for such high ch counts….and well yes the $ outlay :-) My needs also cover live use mostly so lightweight and mobile is key.

DVS has an inherent latency of 5ms, no matter what. The only way to get it around that is to get a Dante PCI card for the PC.

My conclusion is :
Netgear 1GB switch
https://www.netgear.de/support/product/gs305e#
Dante i/ on X32 via X-Dante to
i.e. iLive...via primary
Rec out via secundary to the Mac > ext. SSD
As in my previous post using the X-Dante in the
X32 for recording, it uses about 30% on my rig for network traffic,
and I don't want to interfere with X32-Edit on the Core's remote network...
I prefer the X-UF for recording to the ext. SSD
It is very efficient - bus separated.
The Iconpro Platform M+ is on USB
I also have a

attached to the 1 GB switch for hidden wireless com
BTW
Iconproaudio.com seems to be offline ?

@Klaus thx, always curious how others connect to their switches and what not! There are always several ways to do so. Is that switch managed?
