Controlling effects via midi on X32
I’ve got an x32 with Dante card hooked up to my MacBook. Couple of questions.
First, will the usb remote plug receive midi or do I have to use the midi in?
Second, I’ve got Ableton live running tracks on the timeline. I assume I can draw in midi events and trigger the x32? I want to mute my vox delay on the x32 between songs. This delay is heard in my in ears only.

Both should work ok. Verify you can send osc over sysex for the effects, if you need more than a mute toggle on the fx return bus.

I was just reading about OSC. Apparently Ableton can do that. Am I going to need this to generate commands? https://community.musictribe.com/discus ... -generator\\
thanks for your help

Yes that is what the SysexOscGen app is designed to do.

Re: Controlling effects via midi on X32
If you want to mute the buses feeding the FX engines (typically FX 1-4 is fed by buses 13-16 respectively), you only need to select the Mute on the left and Bus 13 to Bus 16 on the right.
If you want to mute the FX returns, you only need to select the Mute on the left and the FX returns (eg FX1L, FX1R, etc.) on the right.
In order to trigger the snippet, make sure that the MIDI Receive, Program Change is selected in the Setup, MIDI Control screen (in X32-Edit).

I'm sending the program change but nothing happens that I can see.
i'm using IAC as the port, so a virtual midi cable. Will that work or do I need to be triggering the snippet program change directly to X32 midi in?

Hi @mattclarkmixer, unfortunately I don't use midi at all. So you have gone beyond my knowledge-base on midi.

Don't know about virtual port, I for sure would test first with a good old real MIDI connection! As to the Mute, make sure you send the right information: See p. 142 and beyond in the OSC doc:
Mute x x 2 CC0‐79 on (127) / off (0), toggle
latching
Mute Ch01‐32, Aux1‐8, FX1L‐4R,
Bus 1‐16, Mtx 1‐6, Main LR, Main C,
DCA 1‐8
If that doesn't work, you can use Sysex (see p. 145)
